Kantha is the centuries-old craft of embroidery and textile repair done by women in West Bengal. Kantha stitching is an integral part of the social fabric, particularly in villages, where women practise the craft as a community activity - a chance to spend time together and swap stories. At its essence, kantha stitching is a simple but strong running stitch that is used in imaginative ways to create vibrant, highly expressive textiles such as these ones. Our collection of kantha textiles are made in collaboration with a  WFTO (World fair trade) non-profit craft development organisation that  supports disadvantaged women from rural villages.
