NAGA CUSHION (LARGE)
Origin: Nagaland, India
Materials: 100% Cotton
Description:

This textured, monochrome cushion has been handwoven by women artisans in the North-eastern state of Nagaland, home to several indigenous tribal groups with rich craft traditions. Traditional textiles in Nagaland are typically woven on a short-width, back-strap loom also known as a loin loom. Weaving is a part of everyday life for many Naga women, organicaly included in the schedule of the day. Weaving has also become a source of livelihood for the women, with a growing interest in the textural, short-width Naga weaves that translates beautifully to textiles for the home. Evoke works with an all-women run cooperative to produce this series of textiles.
