Materials: Woven raffia and grass
Description:

The Sala Mpasu people from the  Democratic Republic of the Congo were known as a warrior tribe who long resisted colonization. Through mask ownership, personal status, property gains and individual reputations flourished.  The Idangani society create male and a female versions of the woven mask. The male mask has a conical hat and long fringes of raphia below the cheeks and nose. The female mask has large fiber knobs, symbolic of the female hairstyle.
