Fully beaded stools like these signify wealth in Cameroon. In the past, beaded stools depicting animals were made for Royalty only. The cowrie shell is also a symbol of royalty, wealth, and dignity, among the Bameleki people of the Cameroon grasslands.  This stool was used and made for a very important person. Estimated mid 20th century.
