A Cameroonian beaded Kirdi skirt.
Both the nomadic Fulani people and their neighbours, the Kirdi, known for their art of personal adornments, make these intricately woven geometric patterned hand-beaded skirts. In the past women of Northern Cameroun wore pubic aprons made of small iron strips, held in place by a belt of fibre. They have been replaced today by beaded aprons, now only used for ceremonial occasions.
