PROCESSIONAL COPTIC PRAYER STAFF (SOLD) - ETHIOPIA
Origin: ETHIOPIA
Materials: Nickel & Old Silver
Description:

Ethiopian crosses are almost always made from elaborate latticework, the intertwined lattice represents everlasting life. The crosses are cast using the lost wax method. The Ethiopian Coptic Christian church has existed for over 1600 years. Coptic crosses have been produced as a symbol of their faith.
Processional crosses have a socket at the base so they may be mounted on a staff and carried in church ceremonies. These typical crosses were also used as chin rests during prayer. Hand-held blessing crosses used by priests in benedictions and smaller crosses worn as jewellery are also common.
