This beautifully textural throw has been handwoven by women artisans in the North Eastern state of Nagaland, home to several indigenous tribal groups with rich craft traditions. Traditional textiles in Nagaland are typically woven on a short-width, back-strap loom also known as a loin loom. Weaving is a part of everyday life for many Naga women, organically included in the schedule of the day. Weaving has also become a source of livelihood for the women, with a growing interest in the textural, short-width Naga weaves which translate beautifully to textiles for the home.
