The design on our silver inlay Bidri side tables is inspired by Mbuti Pygmy barkcloth patterns from the DRC. These Bidri side tables come with an unpolished granite base, adding to the organic beauty of the piece. Bidri is the decorative craft of silver inlay on a rich, matt black metal made from a copper and zinc alloy. The craft is unique to the region of Bidar, in the southern Deccan horn of India. The craft is believed to have travelled from Persia in the 15th century, finding patronage with the rulers of Deccan India.
