Untanned leather from Dharmavaram comes to life in the enigmatic light sculpture AKASHA BLACK inspired by the intricate art of Tholu Bommalata leather puppetry. This light sculpture highlights the brilliance of punctures and perforations that transform the material into a canvas for light-play.

The name AKASHA is derived from the cloudy natural form of untreated leather, a byproduct material. The artist Andrea took to the marbly quality of leather, moved away from ornamentation, instead focusing on the core essence ‘Guna’ of the craft: perforations, light and layers.
