SILENT GUARDIANS 3 BY THE VAYEDA BROTHERS
Price: £ 2000
Origin: India
Materials: Acrylic on Corten steel
Description:

Mayur and Tushar Vayeda are a contemporary Warli artist brother duo. They come from Ganjad, Maharashtra the birthplace of Warli art, a thirty thousand year old Adivasi indigenous art form.

Warli paintings are done on earth-surfaces depicting vibrant narratives from everyday life to comunity dance to special celebrations. The form of the art comes from geometric shapes from nature. Drawing from artist residencies around the world and especially in Japan, the Vayeda brothers bring a new, sensitive reflection to Warli painting, while remaining authentic to the origins of the style.

Made pen, acrylic and bamboo stick, each work is hand treated with a protective coating to preserve the painting and the rust. They’re created as ‘floating’ works with wooden and brass backing, and custom corton steel hooks.

'Silent Guardians' is part of a series of works following an idea of ‘emergence’ – a narrative of the natural world growing from underwater, to the underground, and above ground, with Warli expressions for the first time ever, on Corten steel and silk.
