Sunita comes from a long line of women artists from the Meena tribe, one of the oldest tribes in Rajasthan. Sunita practices a centuries-old, indigenous art form called 'Mandana’ or ‘Meena.’
Using alabaster clay or 'Khadia Mitti' images are rendered directly onto mud wall surfaces with fingers as the artmaking tool. She now lives and works in Sawai Madhopur with her family near Jaipur.
Sunita's artworks take on a graffiti-like character based on collaboration with KAASH’s design team, creating a dream-like world of animal and plant life with layered, interpretive narratives.
Her artwork done through a residency at KAASH (EVOKE London's sister gallery in Bangalore, India) is applied to create head-turning hand-tufted rugs.
