Gond or Pardhan painting is a popular
indigenous art tradition from Madhya Pradesh
dating at least 1500 years. The art relies on dots
and dashes for its motifs. It depicts nature and
myth, often with bright colours.
Gareeba Singh Tekam’s practice is pushing the
visual boundaries of Gond art with his signature
lions but still using original Gond art motifs. He
has created a series of paintings which play with
the idea of duality - light and dark, white and
black, and the sun and moon.
