Price: £ 8184 for the pair
Origin: INDIA
Materials:

Natural Indigo pigment applied to hand-spun and hand-woven khadi

Description:

Kaimurai is the artistic persona and identity of Abishek Ganesh Jayashree, a contemporary Indian visual and textile artist who lives and works in Bengaluru. His pseudonym, Kaimurai, translates to "method of hands" in Tamil, serving as a direct tribute to the craft, dedication, and repetitive devotion of traditional artisans.

He works predominantly with natural indigo pigment, which he views not merely as a colour but as a spiritual, formless medium akin to sacred ash (Vibuthi) or vermillion (Kumkuma).

Since making his mainstream contemporary debut at the India Art Fair 2023, Kaimurai has quickly garnered international attention:

Kaimurai’s breakthrough exhibition at KAASH in Bangalore was a landmark solo presentation titled The Divine Blue. Held in late 2022, this exhibition fully introduced audiences to his deeply spiritual and highly specific exploration of natural indigo pigment.

He was awarded the Irene Davies International Residency Scholarship and the Hancock Fellowship, spending time as an artist-in-residence at the Australian Tapestry Workshop in 2024 for his exhibition Woven Faith.

His work has been showcased at Art Dubai 2025 (Bawwaba section), the solo exhibition Manifesting in Continuum at Bayt Al Mamzar in Dubai, and the Entangled and Woven exhibition at the Whitworth Art Gallery in Manchester.
